“Libraries for All: How to Start and Run a Small Library” is a practical, hands-on guide to establishing and managing a library in a developing country. It is intended to be used by community leaders, librarians, library committees, aid workers and anyone who is interested in the practical aspect of starting and maintaining a successful library.
This document, published in 1998, is written for use in developing countries, and by people with no formal library training. It is available in RTF or HTML format, and in English, French, or Spanish.
University of Toronto Student Committee of Librarians Without Borders presents:
A screening of the documentary film “Remote Access: Distant Libraries of the World”
Date: Thursday September 24th 2009 5pm-6:30pm
Location: Room 728 in the Faculty of Information 140 St. George Street
The University of Toronto student chapter of LWB is pleased to announce that producer Paul Francescutti will present a screening of his film ‘Remote Access: Distant Libraries of the World’ here at the ischool. The film, which presents to audiences the creativity of “mobile” libraries in Kenya and Peru is sure to inspire librarians and information professionals alike, by informing them of the day-to-day
realities of library systems that rely on camels, donkeys, boats etc. to deliver materials to rural communities. After the screening of the film, Mr. Francescutti will answer questions and take the audience through his experiences in forming, developing and executing the documentary.
