Late October, Librarians Without Borders’ students at the University of Western Ontario traveled to Kettle Point First Nation Reservation on Lake Huron to present a sign that they had made for the community library, as well as a box of book donations. At the request of Kettle Point community leaders, LWB volunteers are starting to work with them to develop some literacy and leisure reading programs. LWB will work with Kettle Point to brainstorm ideas and begin work on a community needs assessment. The student chapter of the Canadian Lawyers Association for International Human Rights is planning a book drive in early 2010 in support of LWB’s work with Kettle Point.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join Librarians Without Borders McGill for an informational meeting about the ongoing library project in Guatemala and the April 2011 trip to the Asturias Academy.
LWB Liaison Carolyn Doi will give a presentation on last year’s trip to Guatemala, including the planning process. Then, current McGill President Robyn Maler will talk about the details of this year’s trip. Finally, there will be a Q&A where you can present your questions and ideas about the project and the 2011 trip to Guatemala.

The new site is coming along. There have been a few glitches in bringing over the prototype from the temporary server to our new server. It looks like 90% of the problems have been solved.
New material will being appearing on this site in the next few weeks as officers from the Executive Board and Board of Directors begin to submit articles.
