General Membership
Membership in Librarians Without Borders (LWB) is available to individuals at no cost in Canada and abroad who share our vision of improving access to information resources, regardless of language, geography, or religion, by forming partnerships with community organizations in specific areas of need.
By becoming a member, you will not only receive the benefits listed below, but more importantly you can play a role in building an organization that strives to empower communities across the globe through the critical provision of libraries.

- A subscription to The Compass, which provides members with updates about the progress of our projects, information about our future endeavors, details about our current and anticipated events, and opportunities for involvement

This is a very good initiative. I think it is very important for library professionals to have a plateform like this for exhanging and sharing ideas , knowledge and experience about their profession. It is with much pleasure that i am making my application to become a member.

I’m not sure how I’ve missed this group, but I am so glad to find a group supporting this type of initiative.
I’ve been working with colleague in Madagascar for the past couple of years in hopes of creating a library in the city of Antananarivo. I would be thrilled to gain more knowledge that might help us in the development of our library.
Please count me in as a volunteer. I would be more than happy to share my experiences with the Malagasy People’s Library project and learn from everyone in the group.

This is very important initiative. We think it is very important for rural area’s people and community based development organizations. We have an organization named Community Development Library (CDL). CDL has been working since 1980 for the narrowing the knowledge gap through information sharing among the rural and urban communities. So we specially appreciate this type of work. We are so much interested to establish a membership.

Thank you for making the AGM available online. It was very interesting and is a wonderful way to get people inspired.
In 2008 I delivered books (in Spanish) to a library built by volunteers in San Andres, Guatemala. They are always in need of donations. I’m sure there are other village libraries around the world in need of materials for their communities.
Thanks again for the initiative of this organization.

I am a public library consultant – currently for the state of Alabama. I am interested in hearing if there are opportunities to assist with bringing information to the people of Haiti. I have also been a schoool librarian and worked for SirsiDynix as their senior Project Manager.

I never knew this kind of organization existed and I m so happy to see it actually does!
I m a colombian anthropologist and I work with an investigation group that is hoping to help overcome knowledge limitations in rural areas as well. We are working in a small rural area of Colombia where we are starting a project so that every population has a library that contains mainly information about their own territory, culture and history. We find it to be very important since they don t privilege their own wisdom and think that knowledge exists only in big cities, mainly because every study about them or novel that is written ends up in universities or libraries far away from them. It is a project that through local libraries and school classes hopes to change this perspective and emphasize on each population s own richness.
I hope this experience can nourish this organization s objectives and learn from it s trajectory.
I will be filling out my membership paper immediately and would certainly love to stay in touch!
